Rusted Tools spawn less frequently in Blue Gate maps than they do on Spaceport. The spawns of Rusted Gears and Tools are random. So, keep searching Industrial Areas in Industrial Areas, and Vehicles like Cars, Busses and Trucks.
Rusted Gears ARC Raiders – The Best Places To Check
As you progress through the mid-game, you’ll encounter a common roadblock. You will need to upgrade your Gunsmith Bench from Level 1 to 3. For this, you’ll need three rusted gears, five advanced mechanical components and four Sentinel firing cores. The Rusted GEAR in ARC Raiders can be difficult to find but is crucial for progression.

Rusted Gears spawn very rarely in loot pool specifics. This leaves many players wondering where to begin their search.
Rusted tools are much more common than Rusted gears, but they share the exact same spawn points. You need to be able to maximize your chances by knowing not only where to go, but also where to go. This guide shows you where to find this rare and elusive material.
Recommended Preparation to Farm Rusted Gears
It’s a loot-only run so you need to focus on security and efficiency.
Use safe pockets: Rusted Gears is rare. It would be a shame to finally find it and then have another Raider steal it. Be sure to use a custom loadout including Safe Pockets.
Bring a big backpack. You’ll loot many containers. If you have a large backpack, it will allow you to carry not only Gears but also other valuable materials that you may find along the journey. You will be able hit more loot areas before having to return to your extract.
Check Your Map. Use our Interactive Maps and pinpoint the “Industrial Areas”. These are your primary targets.
Step 1: Farming strategy – maps with higher difficulties
Rusted gears are available on every map. But, it’s better to spend your time somewhere else. Rusted Tools will be available in almost all loot bins on maps with lower difficulty, like Dam Battlegrounds. For better odds, head to the harder maps. You’ll still get plenty of Rusted Tools but your chances of snagging that rare drop will be much higher. This is a numbers-based game. So be prepared to grind.
The Best Places to Look for Rusted Gears
Your main targets will be Cars, and any container that can be searched within an Industrial Area. Spaceport, with its high concentration of industrial structures, is a better option than Blue Gate.
Prime Farming Route: Spaceport
Spaceport: If you’re looking to farm Rusted Gears in earnest, this is where you should go. Your runs should be focused on these key buildings:
This is one of the top loot spots. In the building, search for Red Lockers. Some players report that the lockers can contain Epic weapon materials (purple), in addition to Rusted gears. The run will still be valuable even if Gears don’t drop.
Vehicle Maintenance building: This is another hotspot. Grab every ground spawn and searchable container in the area.
Blue Gate
Blue Gate could be the answer if Spaceport is too crowded. The map contains several industrial compounds as well as plenty of rusted Cars. Check the toolboxes of these locations, as well as any lockers or vehicle trunks.
It was previously reported by other players that a parking lot underground, slightly South of Warehouse Complex, contained Cars inside with Rusted Gears. You can see the entrance of that parking area on our Blue Gate Interactive maps:
Arc Raiders Metaforge users have a tip for you: You can find the Rusted Gears sometimes in the backs of the Busses. Be sure to check them out as you’re exploring your maps.
Step 3 – Remove your gear from Arc Raiders Stash and store it.
You’ll be happy when you find one (or two if your luck is good! ), don’t get greedy! It is one of rarest materials available in the game. Take the safest route to your nearest extraction point. Your Gears will remain safe if they are in the Safe Pocket even if you are eliminated before extraction.
