\n\tCome\u00e7ou a funcionar na \u00faltima quinta-feira (13) a maior usina de energia solar do mundo. A Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System, localizada no estado da Calif\u00f3rnia, come\u00e7ou a funcionar depois de in\u00fameras quest\u00f5es regulat\u00f3rias e problemas jur\u00eddicos. A usina foi implantada em um terreno de 13 km\u00b2, abrigando o impressionante n\u00famero de 300 mil espelhos para coletar a luz do sol. A capacidade bruta de produ\u00e7\u00e3o chega a 392 megawatts de energia, quatro vezes maior que a usina Shams 1, localizada em Abu Dhabi, que detinha o t\u00edtulo de maior do mundo anteriormente. <\/div>\n

\n\tCom o tanto de eletricidade que produz, a nova usina solar – que pertence \u00e0s empresas NRG Energy, BrightSource Energy e Google – ser\u00e1 capaz de abastecer cerca de 140 mil casas da Calif\u00f3rnia. Segundo comunicado oficial, ao passar a utilizar energia limpa, esses domic\u00edlios deixaram de gerar 400 mil toneladas m\u00e9tricas de CO2 por ano – o que equivale a remover 72 mil ve\u00edculos das ruas.<\/div>\n
